Music
This very active Music Department provides students with various high quality musical opportunities catering for all tastes. We encourage as many students as possible to take instrumental or vocal lessons at school and to be part of an ever growing extra-curricular music programme. At KS3 the Music curriculum continues the good work from Middle and first schools, and encourages all students to enjoy Music while at PHHS. We aim to encourage as many students as possible to take GCSE and A level Music and look to further increase student numbers and secure and maintain its status in the school. We look to further encourage more students to study Music at Sixth Form level, sitting the AS, A Level or BTEC Music qualifications.
We aim to increase communications between the school and parents/carers with news of achievements, activities and future events. With European destinations and productions of whole school musicals, the future is very exciting for this busy Music department. With the new Sixth Form Music course, BTEC in Music Performance and in the future a GCSE equivalent BTEC course, a continuation and further development of ‘A’ Level and GCSE Music, coupled with relocating to a new purpose built Music centre with two large teaching spaces, one a fully equipped iMac computer suite it’s a very exciting time for the Music department.
