Design & Technology
Timbers & Product Design
The Key Stage 3 curriculum is designed to be an inspiring, rigorous, and practical subject. Students are encouraged to be creative and use their imagination, to design and make products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts, considering their own but more importantly others’ needs, wants and values. They will acquire a broad range of subject knowledge and draw on cross-curricular disciplines such as Mathematics, Science, Computing and Art. Students will learn how to take risks, to enable them to become resourceful, innovative, enterprising, and capable citizens. Through the evaluation of past and present design and technology, they develop a critical understanding of its impact on daily life and the wider world. Students must learn about the social and ethical responsibilities of designers and engineers and the importance of managing finite resources with care.
