In the Citizenship Department we believe that our role is to support learners on their journey to become well informed and responsible citizens.   

Citizenship GCSE engages students with the world around them. We aim to broaden students’ knowledge and skills by helping them to understand, challenge and engage with democratic society, including politics, the media, civil society, the economy and the law. This ensures that students understand the importance of respect and leave school fully prepared for life in modern Britain. 

By studying GCSE Citizenship students will also gain the ability to recognise bias, critically evaluate arguments weigh the evidence and look for alternative interpretations and sources of evidence, all of these are essential skills valued by education and employers.
