Fashion Textiles

The Textiles Design curriculum aims to provide students from Year 9 to Year 13 with a variety of experiences that allow them to be expressive, creative, think for themselves, and make independent decisions about the direction of their work.  Creative problem solving and creative risk taking are promoted throughout, as is the importance of reflecting on and evaluating work in order to plan for progression.  The Textiles Design curriculum is carefully constructed to teach, and allow students to build core skills.  As students grow in their confidence, knowledge, and understanding, they are given greater opportunities to develop areas of interest and freedom to explore a wide variety of ideas.  Students are taught how to successfully construct a cohesive project and the importance of key elements within this.  The ethos that all children are artists and designers and all can develop, grow and learn is key. Skills can be taught and learnt, as can creativity. An understanding of the importance of promoting resilience, resourcefulness and an ability to reflect and refine also underpins the curriculum.
