Politics

The aim of the Politics course is to provide students with an understanding of why the world is currently ordered as it is. By studying Politics, students will gain a greater understanding of the key political ideas that have shaped the last 250 years. These ideas have shaped the modern world in which we live and have been the driving forces of great political, social, and economic change. The course specifically covers liberalism, conservatism, socialism and ecologism. The curriculum also covers the practical workings of UK and US politics and compares and contrast these. The course enables students to develop the ability to critically analyse, interpret and evaluate political information to form arguments and make judgements. Politics will therefore ensure that the students are informed citizens and well-rounded individuals.
