Message from Dr Evans, Headteacher
It is a privilege indeed to be Headteacher of Prince Henry’s High School and to work with such committed students, staff, parents/carers and governors. As a parent myself, I fully understand that choosing the right school is one of the most important decisions you will ever have to make and I hope our website demonstrates why we are all very proud to be a part of the Prince Henry’s community.
Our guiding principles are those of inclusivity, aspiration and kindness, where every student has the opportunity to achieve their full potential irrespective of their abilities, aptitudes and strengths. The school’s mission statement is based upon universal values such as acceptance, courtesy, determination, friendship, integrity, resilience and understanding, to name a few. With these values in mind, we foster the personal qualities of respect, fairness and equality in our students for themselves, and for others.
We are confident that you will find that there is a real sense of engagement and purpose, with students enjoying their education at Prince Henry’s. This arises from their feeling that they are being motivated, stretched, valued and supported. We are proud of the numerous opportunities available for our students, both within and outside the curriculum.
Prince Henry’s received its last general inspection by Ofsted in March 2024 and details of this, together with our other recent Ofsted visits are on our Ofsted page. At the end of the inspection, our school was graded as Outstanding in all areas and the inspectors concluded that Prince Henry’s provides an exceptionally high quality of education for its students, stating in their report that students:
- “flourish academically and grow into caring and responsible young adults”
- “learn alongside enthusiastic, dedicated and knowledgeable staff and classrooms are places where students think, question and reflect on their learning”
- “live out the school values through their behaviour every day”
- “achieve exceptionally well”
- “benefit from a comprehensive personal development offer”
- “learn about, and share, the important values that will help them succeed in later life”
“Everyone at Prince Henry’s High School is proud to be part of a united and vibrant community. There is an all-encompassing togetherness that runs through every aspect of school life. Staff greet pupils each morning with genuine warmth, coupled with a determination that every pupil will work hard, attend regularly and behave exceptionally well. Pupils do all of these.”
Ofsted 2024
In terms of the school’s Sixth Form, the inspectors commented that it was “a shining light….where there is an aspirational culture that values hard work”. The inspectors also noted that “the school takes particular care of its most vulnerable students”.
In recent years, students who have attended Prince Henry’s have enjoyed a broad, balanced and deep curriculum, with many opportunities to participate in enrichment and extra-curricular activities. The quality of our provision across the whole curriculum has been recognised by the awards of SMSCD (Spiritual, Moral, Social & Cultural Development) Gold, Artsmark Gold, School Games Platinum, Music Mark, Career Mark, NACE (National Association for Able Children in Education) Challenge Award, a Centre of Excellence for the Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM) and most recently 360 Degree Safe Accreditation.
