Applying for an Apprenticeship
Apprenticeships offer an opportunity to work and study at the same time. Most of your time is spent doing on-the-job training, and the rest is spent working towards a qualification. You’ll get paid a salary and be part of a team, just like a standard employee, but you’ll also get dedicated study time throughout the week.
There are many different levels of apprenticeship and the qualification you can achieve could vary from the equivalent to GCSEs, to a master’s degree depending on the level of apprenticeship you take. Each level apprenticeship will have different entry requirements.
Applying for an apprenticeship is like applying for a normal job.
- apprenticeships don’t follow the same deadlines as applying to universities, the deadline is down to the employer
- you apply directly through the employer
- you’re not restricted to one apprenticeship application; you can do as many as you like.

Applying to University
If students wish to apply to University in the UK they need to apply through the central university admissions organisation: UCAS. The UCAS website contains all the information that students, parents and carers need from starting to explore options, subjects and institutions to filling in the application form and responding to offers.

Students receive help and advice in their Enrichment and Guidance lessons and from the Sixth Form Team and their tutors..
Student Finance Information
Most full-time and part-time students can apply online to Student Finance England.
1. Set up a student finance online account
2. Log in and complete the online application.
3. Include details of your household income and get your parents to support your application, if needed.
4. Send in proof of identity, if needed.
5. Sign and return the loan declaration, which you should receive within 6 weeks.
6. You don’t need a confirmed place to apply.
Students must apply before the May deadline to get their money by the start of term. If an application is late, the money might be too. Students need to make sure they have got their applications in by the deadline so they are not left short at the start of term.
Students should apply online with their passport number and send requested evidence as quickly as possible. They should also ensure that their parents or sponsors complete their financial information to get their application completed by the relevant deadlines.
