Film Studies

In Film Studies, our aim is to offer learners a wonderful opportunity to broaden their understanding of the world, and all its diversity. Film Studies examines the depiction of different cultures, people and places on film, and our aim is to encourage students to challenge ideas about gender, race, inequality, and age through their experience of this subject.

Our vision is to equip students with a knowledge and understanding of the core elements of film form: to provide them with the language necessary to explore challenging and academic approaches such as narrative, spectatorship and ideology.

We believe that a love of Cinema, and the ability to critically engage with the ideas conveyed through film texts, enriches students’ cultural understanding and equips them for a rich cultural and working life beyond school.
