Year 12 Mock Election Results

On Tuesday, the eagerly awaited results of our Year 12 Mock Election were announced, bringing to a close two weeks of energetic campaigning, thoughtful debate, and enthusiastic participation. After 166 votes were cast, the Conservatives emerged victorious with 42 votes (25.3%), followed by Labour and Reform UK on 34 votes each (20.5%), the Green Party on 33 votes (19.9%), and the Liberal Democrats on 23 votes (13.8%).

Congratulations to all of our candidates, who represented their parties with professionalism and respect throughout the campaign, as well as to our team of returning officers, whose hard work ensured the election was organised and conducted so effectively.

The mock election provided students with a valuable opportunity to engage directly with the democratic process. From producing manifestos and campaign materials to delivering speeches, answering challenging questions from their peers, and casting their votes, students developed a deeper understanding of politics, public speaking, campaigning, and informed debate.

The respect shown throughout the campaign were a credit to everyone involved. The enthusiasm with which Year 12 embraced this opportunity has been a wonderful example of the year group at its very best and gives every reason to be optimistic about the next generation of active and engaged citizens.
