The Year 12 mock election is now well underway, with the Sixth Form area transformed by a vibrant array of party posters and campaign materials as candidates make their case to voters.
On Tuesday, candidates delivered speeches to their fellow Year 12 students before taking part in a hustings-style question-and-answer session. Students posed thoughtful and challenging questions on a range of important national issues, including economic growth, environmental policy, and the future of education.
The intelligence, maturity, and sensitivity shown by both the candidates and the students asking questions were particularly impressive. Candidates demonstrated a strong understanding of the issues facing the country, while their peers engaged respectfully and critically with the different political perspectives on offer.
The mock election will culminate in a vote next Wednesday, when Year 12 students will have the opportunity to cast their ballots and decide the outcome.
