On Friday, 30th January, all members of Workman House gathered in the Henrician Theatre for an assembly celebrating the achievements of their peers.
Among those recognised were the house sports leaders, who have been doing an excellent job in representing Workman House, and Prince Henry’s, in various sporting events and matches.
Following this, House Point Awards were given to students who have been recognised by their teachers as having worked diligently and embodied the Prince Henry’s values, both within the classroom and beyond. Members of the Senior Leadership Team presented 51 Workman students with awards in total. In particular, Natan Karbarz and Sophia Slabbert-Close were awarded their House Award for achieving 240 house points, an accolade to be extremely proud of.
The students were also given two school values to specifically focus on for this half term of courage and discipline. They were asked to reflect on the impact of these values on themselves, their peers and teachers on a day-to-day basis. Together, courage and discipline foster ambition and a readiness to learn, allowing for proactive learning to take place both in, and beyond, the classroom.
I hope to see even more members of Workman House on stage receiving awards at the next House Assembly and being congratulated not only for the outstanding classwork they produce, but also for arriving to school promptly every morning, maintaining excellent attendance rates and putting themselves forward to participate in some of the many inter-house competitions available at Prince Henry’s High School.
