The Music department welcomed Joel Foster, a 21 year old singer songwriter from Burton-Upon-Trent, to work with our GCSE Year 10 and Year 11 musicians last week. Joel led a songwriting workshop with the students. Joel’s musical style is a mixture of Classic Rock, Alternative Rock and Indie, inspired by the likes of Oasis, Sam Fender, Elton John and The Arctic Monkeys. Joel starred on the first season of ‘The Voice Kids UK’ 2017. It was then that Joel realised he wanted to show the world his music. Joel started playing the piano from the age of 3, he said that he knew music was what he was destined to do. Joel brought real-world insight into the art and industry of songwriting.
The engaging workshops were perfect for our students, offering them all a chance to learn directly from a professional working at the heart of the music industry. Over the past few years, Joel has visited more than 200 schools, delivering inspiring performances and workshops that support music education. We were very lucky to be one of those schools.
