A group of Year 11 students visited the University of Birmingham as part of their Careers programme As students are currently considering their post 16 options they were able to explore one of the options available to them post 18, to help them to make informed decisions in Year 11.
During the day the students gained an experience of the excitement of university life and an understanding of the opportunities that going to university may offer. There was a tour of the University of Birmingham campus led by Student Ambassadors which included a look around the Sports Facilities and the Lapworth Museum of Geology which has more than 250,000 specimens some over 500 million years old. The University Outreach Officer led a series of talks through which the students were able to gain valuable insights into pathways to university and student life. The students engaged in a very lively game of ‘Course Pictionary’ discovering the full range of courses available in Higher Education from History, Medicine, Law and Chemistry to Applied Golf Management Studies, Ethical Hacking and Forensic Criminology. The day ended with a question and answer session with some the Student Ambassadors.
