UNDER MILK WOOD

On November 7th and 8th, 23 drama students in years 10, 12 and 13 took part in the radio play ‘Under Milk Wood’ by Dylan Thomas. Set in Milk Wood on Llareggub Hill, the comings and goings of the seaside town were told as students took on the sixty characters from the play.  The fun of the piece was the attempt at the Welsh accents where students tried to maintain and also multi-role their characters as the piece is a ‘play for voices’. It was interesting trying a different genre of theatre where students had to consider tone, rhythm, pitch and pace. Thanks to Gilly Russell for doing the sound effects and Mr Russell Painter for playing the epic, ‘First Voice’.
