U15s Cricket Triumph
Congratulations to our 8-a-Side Under 15s cricketers, who yesterday won the Midlands Regional Finals of the national Super Eights competition in a keenly fought contest at Moseley Cricket Club in Birmingham. Having already been chosen to represent Worcestershire in an earlier round of the competition, in yesterday’s Group Game Prince Henry’s team beat the champions of Herefordshire, Shropshire and Derbyshire. They then went on to defeat the Northants Champions in the final. Given the format of the competition, this was a real team effort with all nine of the squad contributing brilliantly.
The side were superbly lead by Charlie Banning who carried out the team plans to perfection, ably supported by Matt Knight, Harry Bermingham, Brent McOmish, Nathan Bolland, Charlie Roberts, Michael Towey, Jonny Deakin and Gio Capaldi.
The prize is a place in the National Finals which, in what promises to be a huge day for the team and the school, will be played in coloured clothing under floodlights on Friday 13th September at Northants County Cricket Club. In the semi final Prince Henry’s will be facing at team from Warden Park School, representing Sussex. The winners of this match will then go on to play the winners of the other semi-final which is being played between Woldgate School of Yorkshire and Park House School of Berkshire.
Congratulations, once again, to everyone involved. This is just the icing on the cake of what has been a memorable year of sporting achievement for Prince Henry’s students.
