Year 11 Trip to the Wyre Forest & Bewdley
During the final week of the Spring Term a group of nine Year 11 students, accompanied by three members of staff, took part in a two-day residential trip to the Wyre Forest, near Bewdley. The trip’s aim was to help the students develop their team building and life skills. As this involved an overnight stay in a bunk house, it meant that the students had to feed themselves and clean up afterwards and so, by way of preparation, they had cooked meals which they would be able to take away with them in Food Tech lessons, prior to the visit.
On the first day, having travelled from Prince Henry’s to Bewdley, the group hiked three miles to the Wyre Forest Visitor Centre. As you can see from the photographs, this was not as straightforward as it may sound, given that there was still some snow on the ground and in places the mud was more than ankle deep! As day two dawned, the group showed that they were ready for another challenge and developed their map reading skills even further with another four mile hike, this time into Bewdley itself, stopping off on the way to visit an old water mill.
Despite – and perhaps, because of – the weather conditions, everyone had a fantastic and memorable time, and I would like to congratulate all the students involved for their enthusiasm, and for representing Prince Henry’s so well.
