As the summer holidays begin, it is important to remember how to enjoy them safely. With increased temperatures, our young people need to be aware of the dangers of open water, no matter how strong a swimmer they are. Drowning, for the large part, is highly preventable but the number of children who drown is increasing and teenagers are proportionately more likely to lose their lives in this way when temperatures exceed 25C.
The website below gives advice on what to do if you get into trouble in the water and what you should do if you see someone else in difficulty. There are also links to other ways of staying safe over the summer. We hope you have an enjoyable summer and look forward to seeing you in September.
