SUMMER CONCERT REVIEW

This evening I once again had the pleasure of attending the Prince Henry’s Summer Concert, which has become an embodiment of the high standards, hard work, passion, skill, enjoyment, and team-working that are the norm for the School. This year the Prince Henry’s orchestra was supplemented with representatives from Middle Schools as part of the School’s desire to engage with students even before they enter Year 9 and to enthuse them with the opportunities that lie ahead. As we have come to expect the Concert included an abundance of excellent performances. As well as a number of stunning vocal soloists we were all captivated by skilful performances on piano and guitar. The vocal groups all impressed – Accabellas, with an excellent rendition of the Pentatonics’ Beyoncé medley, the new Barbarellas, the Decorators who gave a typically stunning performance of a very complex 8-part arrangement of Scarborough Fair, and of course an entertaining performance by the Barbershop. Additionally, the Orchestra, Big Band, and various ensembles all gave what were perhaps their best performances that made the evening one of the finest Summer Concerts I’ve had the pleasure to attend. Mr Bullas leads an enthusiastic and dedicated team who bring the very best out of the students.
