Speech Day 5th July

SPEECH DAY 2013

Our annual Speech Day and Prize Giving will be held on Friday, 5th July 2013, when our Guest Speaker will be Professor Prem Kumar, Professor of Physiological Science at the School of Clinical & Experimental Medicine, University of Birmingham.

Following an invitation by my predecessor, Mr Roberts, to attend Speech Day last year with my wife, I could see for myself how this occasion contributes to the special ethos here at Prince Henry’s. I could see at first hand why it is so important to celebrate the achievements of the school and, more importantly, its students through this event. I am now very much looking forward to my first Speech Day, since taking over as Headteacher in September 2012.

I am pleased to say that a significant number of students will be receiving prizes this year and these students and their parents will have already been informed. For those pupils not receiving prizes there will be no school on Friday, 5th July 2013, except for some of our Senior Prefects. Prize winners from Years 9, 10 and 12 will be required to attend in the morning as well as being present at the prize giving ceremony. The school bus service will operate, but it may be that some changes will be made to the usual schedule due to the reduced number of students who will be requiring bus transport on the day. If bus arrangements are to be amended, any students affected will be notified nearer to the day.

I look forward to seeing the parents of prize winners at Speech Day.
