Sixth Form Visit to New York and Washington DC

A group of 40 sixth form students has just returned from a half term visit to New York and Washington DC.  During the visit, the year 12 and 13 students experienced many different aspects of the culture, society, history and food of the USA.  

The visit comprised 3 nights in New York, staying next to Central Park, and 3 nights in Downtown Washington DC.  As well as a packed programme of activities in both New York and Washington, there was a day trip to Philadelphia to see the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall and a visit to George Washington’s home, Mount Vernon, in Virginia.

·         Basketball Match – Washington Wizards v Utah Jazz

·         The Lincoln Memorial 

·         The Natural History Museum

·         The Air and Space Museum

·         Washington Botanical Gardens

·         National Archives

·         American History Museum

·         National Portrait Gallery

·         Museum of the American Indian

·         Other Smithsonian Museums

We arrived back in England on Saturday 8^th March, very tired and with very high ‘step counts’, and full of new experiences and the complete range of American food, carrying a vast array of souvenirs and having had a wonderful time.
