As Link Governor for Safeguarding, I met with Mr Freeman, Designated Safeguarding Lead, on 8 June 2016 for our termly update meeting.

We discussed in detail, the Report to Governors which Mr Freeman was presenting to the Property, Development and Safeguarding meeting later that evening. I was extremely impressed with the substantial amount of work that has been carried out by Mr Freeman and his team since our last update meeting.

Both external and internal audits have been undertaken to establish whether the policies, procedures and practices within the school safeguard children effectively. The outcome of these audits provide evidence that the school does indeed create a positive culture and ethos where safeguarding is an important part of everyday life.

A significant amount of training has also taken place and the school is in the enviable position of having 5 of the 7 members of the SLT having undergone formal Safeguarding training from Worcestershire Safeguarding Children’s Board as well as having 2 Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads. Plans are in place for all staff to undertake further Safeguarding training in the New Year.

My thanks to Mr Freeman for his time with me and his professionalism and commitment to this challenging role.

Parent Governor
