THE TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA

On the morning of 20th November, year 11, 12 and 13 Drama students and year 12 and 13 English Literature students had the opportunity to be involved in the latest live broadcast from the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. Over 300 schools took part in the event across the UK.
‘The Two Gentlemen of Verona’ is one of Shakespeare’s earlier plays and is rarely performed so it was a real treat to see this latest RSC interpretation. This romantic comedy is set in the controlled world of Verona and Milan, through to the wilderness of the forest where, it seems, anything can happen. The four main characters Valentine, Proteus, Julia and Silvia all discover what friendship, love and fickleness truly mean.
The atmosphere was excellent in the Arts Centre and all the students were really engaged with the performance. The music within the production proved very popular with our students and they clearly enjoyed the comical moments and the dog!
We were also privileged to have Sophie Hobson from the RSC Education department watch the production with us and look forward to the next live feed due in March 2015.
