Prince Henry’s Wins “Get Set to Plan Your Legacy” Grant

As a Get Set school we have continued to promote the Olympic & Paralympic values of respect, excellence, friendship, determination, courage, equality and inspiration. The PE department had the opportunity to apply for a ‘Get Set to Plan Your Legacy’ grant of up to £5000 to help set up an event to continue the spirit of the Olympic and Paralympic London 2012 Games. This new initiative has been launched by Get Set in partnership with the Department for Education and only 100 grants will be awarded.

Our application was based on an Inclusion Festival for our local Middle and First feeder schools including The Vale School. The idea of the festival is to give students who have difficulty in accessing the curriculum, the opportunity to try out different sports and work with others from different schools.

A selection panel that included representatives from the British Olympic Association, the British Paralympic Association and the Department for Education assessed our application and we were successful! We will receive a grant of £4,975 to help us with our event. Planning is underway for the festival and our Young Leaders will be involved from start to finish.
