This week is National Careers Week, a celebration of Career Guidance to support young people as they explore their futures.
At Prince Henry’s we fully support this initiative and so every year we have a range of activities before, during and after this week to support students. At this important stage in the academic calendar we are particularly looking at ways to help our young people to develop awareness and excitement about their future pathways.
Year 10 had their Destinations Day last week during which they attended workshops with potential employers and education providers. This week a large number of Year 10 students will be attending the Skills Expo at Sixways Stadium in Worcester. Over the last few weeks Year 9 students have been choosing their GCSE Option Subjects for next year with guidance on choices to support their future careers. Then in the middle of March, most of our Year 12 students will be attending the UCAS University fair to better understand their options.
Therefore, whilst celebrating National Careers Week, we are also ensuring that Career Guidance is not just about one week but a sustained, comprehensive and integrated approach across the whole school, across all year groups, which is age appropriate and which meets individual needs.
