On Thursday 15th May, a large group of excited Year 9 students had the privilege of attending the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon to watch a production of ‘Much Ado About Nothing’, a play which we have studied in our lessons. Upon arriving, we saw that the theatre was very big and the stage was surrounded by seating on all different angles, high and low, so that viewers all had different perspectives of the actors.
The Royal Shakespeare Company set ‘Much Ado About Nothing’ in the modern day with the characters being members of a football team. As we watched the performance it was clear to see the real, raw emotions of the extremely talented actors! The tale of Hero and Claudio’s love was brought alive thanks to the dramatic lighting, amazing sets and cleverly-designed wardrobe.
As we studied this classic play in our English lessons, it was fun to see it all in person. Overall, ‘Much Ado About Nothing’ was a must-see show! A very big ‘thank you’ to Mr Dingley, Mrs Loverock, Mrs Lee, Miss Banfield and Mrs Walters for organising and taking us on the trip!
