LOCAL MP SIR PETER LUFF VISITS PRINCE HENRY’S
Sir Peter Luff MP recently visited Prince Henry’s to discuss a number of issues. During his visit, Dr Evans was able to brief Sir Peter about the impact Teaching School status will have for South Worcestershire. Other topics included the vision by the Senior Staff and Governing body for upgrading the school buildings and classrooms, projects the school has undertaken in relation to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths), and the recently announced news concerning the funding formula. Despite the welcome news of additional money allocated to Worcestershire, Dr Evans, Mr Butcher (Chair of Governors) and Mr Harris (Chair of Finance Committee) discussed their concerns about potential reductions to school budgets that have been noticed in the Evesham pyramid over recent years. They also discussed their concerns about the national reduction to funding for Sixth Form students. Sir Peter has promised to take these issues up with the David Laws (Minister for Schools) and Worcestershire Local Authority.
We are looking forward to seeing Sir Peter back with us on 4th July, when he will be our Guest Speaker for Speech Day.
