Miss Coxon ‘Run’ Success

Miss Coxon Wins “Great Run” Prize

As many of you will be aware from this year’s Evesham 10k run, there are a number of enthusiastic runners on the staff at Prince Henry’s; few more so than our Head of Geography, Miss Jenny Coxon (pictured on the left of the PHHS staff team photo from the Evesham run below).  Miss Coxon is a member of the Birmingham Running Athletics and Triathlon team, who won the team competition in this year’s Birmingham half-marathon.  With 20,000 people taking part, not only did she complete the course in a very impressive 1 hour 29 minutes, she came 26th in the women’s race.

The winning teams from Birmingham and seven other “Great Run” events held around the country were entered into a draw, and as a result Miss Coxon and some of her team members have won the top prize:  an inclusive trip to the Yaya Village training resort just outside Addis Ababa in Ethiopia, to take place at the end of November.  Ethiopia has produced some of the world’s top long distance runners, and the resort was set up by running legend, multiple world record holder and double Olympic Champion, Haile Gebrselassie.  Not only will she have the opportunity to use the world-class training facilities and experience running at altitude, she will also get to meet the man himself.

Congratulations to Miss Coxon on a stunning achievement.
