Keeping in Touch

Keeping in Touch

At Prince Henry’s, we use a variety of means to keep parents and carers up to date about the life of the school, individual items affecting their children and important alerts to our community. This page summarises the different means we use to communicate and provides links to elsewhere on this site to find out more about each item.

Key Information:

MyChildAtSchool

The MyChildAtSchool Bromcom Parent Portal (MCAS) provides a means of communicating with parents/carers via the app which combines much of the information that we publish together into one place, including messages to parents, letters home, time tables, homework and importantly also provides a means of parents/carers to give consent for their child to attend the many extra-curricular activities available at school, as well as consent for sporting fixtures away from school or to inform us of your child’s absence from school.

Text Service

For many years, Prince Henry’s has communicated urgent updates to parents via Text Message. To find out more about our text message service, please click the button below.

Newsletter

Once per half term, Dr Evans writes to all of our community in the school’s newsletter and delivers any new information which will be relevent to parents/carers for that period, as well as providing any updates to other routine information given out. The archive of newsletters can be found here using the button below.

Letters

School will sometimes need to write to parents/carers as via a formal letter. This may be emailed directly to you as an attachment, or sent via the postal system to the address we hold for you. It is therefore important that you make the school aware should you move house or otherwise change your address so that important information is not sent to an incorrect address.

To Celebrate:

Website News

We celebrate the achievements and successes of our students through our website. This is updated weekly and all the historic news from Prince Henry’s can be found on the dedicated News page.

The Henrician Magazine

The Henrician is our annual school magazine, looking back over the previous academic year and highlighting all of the extraordinary events taking place across the school. This magazine has been published every year that the school has existed, with archives currently stretching back to 1946! The archive of more recent years can be found on the Henrician page, and we plan to digitise our entire archive in time.

The Gazette

The Gazette is our termly magazine, produced by our Sixth Form students to showcase work produced by all year groups in the school. It is published on our website.

MyChildAtSchool

Prince Henry’s uses the MCAS Bromcom Parent Portal to communicate directly with parents and carers. This has replaced our previous text message based system with a modern website and app based solution. Using this system you can instantly receive push messages from school, sign up for activities such as trips and events, see your child’s reports, timetable and homework and access key information about the school such as term dates.

From early September, parents and carers of all students will receive an email invitation from noreply@princehenrys.worcs.sch.uk to sign up for this system. It is key that you accept this invitation to ensure that you have full access to the system. For Years 10, 11 and 13 you will only receive an invitation if you haven’t already accepted an invitation in previous years.

MyChildAtSchool

You can access the MyChildAtSchool App via the blue links below, either on your phone/device or via the web site.

A quick start guide is also available below.

Granting Permission using the App

Using the App or website, you can give permission for your child to attend a variety of events in school. The videos below demonstrate using each feature of the App.

Granting Permission for Activities

School activities, such as after school clubs, rehearsals for events in the Henrician and events held out of school hours all require your consent for your child to attend. When an event is created, your child will be invited to the event, and you will be alerted via e-mail to grant consent. You are able to grant a complete consent for all of the dates the activity will run, as well as telling school if your child will not be attending certain events. It is really important that we have your consent for these activities, so please do ensure that you have filled in this form if you receive a notification.

Granting Permission for Local Visits

At the start of the year, the school will ask you to review the permission you have granted to allow your child to participate in Local Visits – that is, visits in and around the area of Evesham. This means that for small trips out of school, there isn’t a need for you to return paperwork to school regarding that specific trip. You will still be made aware of the visit taking place, and will have the option to withdraw your child from the trip if necessary.

Granting Permission for Sporting Fixtures

At the start of the year, the school will ask you to review the permission you have granted to allow your child to participate in Sporting Fixtures. This will apply to all students who are part of a sporting team representing the school at events organised by the PE department. Granting this permission removes the need for you to consent for each individual fixture, removing the burden this would place on parents/carers.

Texting Service

Prince Henry’s will communicate urgent updates to parents/carers via MCAS which will send a text alert or an in-app notification. Text messages sent using this service will show as coming from the school phone number – 01386 870891. We recommend that parents/carers add this number to their contact lists so that you can be sure that a message received is from Prince Henry’s and is genuine information.  On occasion you may also receive text messages delivered with a heading of ‘PHHS’.

Phone Calls

Staff may call home from time to time if they need to speak directly to you about a specific issue. The school’s phone number is 01386 765588, and this will show on your phone’s display. We recommend adding this to your contacts so that you can easily recognise it. During times when school is closed, staff may need to call you directly from numbers other than this main number, and is school policy to not display these numbers when calling, so you may receive a call from Number Withheld or No Caller ID.

If you change your landline or mobile phone number, it is important that you let the school know as soon as possible so that we can continue to reach you in an emergency.

Emails

The school’s main email address for all correspondence is:

enquiries@princehenrys.worcs.sch.uk

When contacting parents/carers, it is usual for this email address to be used. Individual staff email addresses are not published. It is important that if you change your email address, you notify school immediately so that our records are kept up to date.
