On Wednesday, 28th January, all members of Holland House gathered in the Henrician Theatre for an assembly celebrating the achievements of their peers.
Among those recognised were the newly elected Year 9 Sports House Captain’s and Vice Captain’s for Holland:
Year 9 Holland Boys House Captain – Jay Prosser
Year 9 Holland Boys Vice Captain – Teddy Webster
Year 9 Holland Girls House Captain – Lila Gallinagh
Year 9 Holland Girls Vice Captain – Polly Newman
Additionally, 9H and 9O who have organised stalls in the annual Year 9 Christmas Fayre. Jacob Lloyd, Alfie Brisker, Joe Sandbrook, Polly Newman, Emily Webb and Ella Blencoe from 9H and 9O were recognised for their running of the stalls, where they helped raise £109 for our chosen Interact charities.
Following this, House Point Awards were given to students who have been recognised by their teachers as having worked diligently and embodied the Prince Henry’s values, both within the classroom and beyond. Members of the Senior Leadership Team presented 48 Holland students with awards in total. With Isla Hurst, Rosie Chatterton and Karina Krasimirova being awarded their House Award for achieving 240 house points.
Building on last terms values of respect and honesty, I asked the group to specifically focus on courage and appreciation in the Spring Term. They were asked to reflect on the impact of these values on themselves, their peers and teachers on a day-to-day basis. Courage and appreciation work together by guiding individuals to recognise what is truly valuable and by giving the individual the strength to act, even when facing something that is difficult.
I hope to see even more members of Holland House on stage receiving awards at the next House Assembly and being congratulated not only for the outstanding classwork they produce, but also for arriving to school promptly every morning, wearing their uniform with pride, maintaining excellent attendance rates and putting themselves forward to participate in some of the many inter-house competitions available at Prince Henry’s High School.
