I was delighted to visit the school and spent time with Mr Freeman; Senior Deputy Headteacher and Mrs Wall, Senior Support Staff Manager, reviewing the school’s Single Central Register.
Mr Freeman then took me on a tour of the school where I was pleased to see the refurbishment of the old staff room areas, which were now the offices for the Worcestershire Hills Trust.
I was then thrilled to move to the Food Technology Department where I was invited to participate in judging the Year 10 MasterChef competition. An enthusiastic group of year 10 students were busily putting together a range of delicious deserts to tempt our taste buds. There was a plethora of chocolate treats, lemon meringue pie, strawberry puff and a trio of deserts which included sticky toffee pudding, apple crumble and a good old-fashioned bread and butter pudding! We were very spoilt, and three desserts were put through to the next round including the Lemon Meringue pie which was delicious and my particular favourite! The pastry was light a crispy and lemon filling which wasn’t too sweet. I am very much looking forward to the next cook-off next, which will be Year 9 cooking the mains dish.
I then spent an hour with Mrs Cox Head of Food Technology who explained how the department continued to grow and develop with students opting for Food Technology in both examinations in Year 10 and Sixth Form.
