Safeguarding and Attendance

On Thursday 18th January, I was invited to attend the weekly Attendance meeting held in the boardroom.

The meeting is attended by Deputy Heads of Year with responsibility for Year group attendance, School attendance officer together with staff involved with students who find accessing school difficult for a myriad of reasons.  A discussion takes place during which senior staff are updated on the current attendance status of various students and decisions considered regarding any action required.

It is clear that every effort is made to ensure that students are offered opportunities to engage with the curriculum in a manner that supports their individual needs whether that be short or long term.

Following the meeting, Mr Freeman took me on a tour of the school and in particular, the refurbishment of the old music department which is being developed to house the exams and finance department. This will provide a bespoke area allowing Mrs Wall and her examination team easier access to the examination rooms and promises to be a great asset for the school.

I then spent time with Mrs Bradley reviewing the School Central Record.

As always, I would like to thank all the staff for the warm welcome.
