Governor Visit – 13th October 2025

As designated Governor Link to Geography, it was my pleasure to visit the department on 13th October 2025, where I was warmly welcomed by the Head of Geography, Miss Price.

We discussed the department challenges and successes, and Miss Price summarised priorities for the term ahead which includes specific support for years 11 and 13 ahead of upcoming mock exams, with lunchtime revision clubs proving popular for both cohorts.

Next year there are plans in place for a residential field trip in March 2026, for the year 12 group, with 24 students currently having expressed an interest in attending.

Miss Price demonstrated learning materials and talked through how she balances the challenge of day-to-day workload with strategic planning for the department. She was very complimentary of her team of staff in the department, including those new to the role and/or in training, and it was clear that she values the support received from her senior team colleagues since being appointed in April 2025.

It was interesting to hear about the cultural shift towards the use of AI for both staff and pupils, for example Seneca a smart learning platform supporting revision and homework, and in creating lesson plans and fun learning tools such as Miss Jacksons ‘Key Word Quiz’.

Thank you Miss Price for a very enjoyable and informative visit, it’s clear that there is a strong culture of celebrating success within the department and I wish you, the students, and staff all the best for the remainder of the 2025/26 academic year
