Women and Girls’ Cricket at Prince Henry’s
Girls’ cricket at Prince Henry’s looks to be going from strength to strength. Last year the girls reached the regional finals of the Lady Taverner’s Indoor Cricket competition. This year there are 15 girls in Years 9 and 10 looking forward to training with Miss Heywood and Mr Pilling in an attempt to retain our title as county champions. They will also be supported in part by Jon Hancock, Head Coach of the County Women’s team.
This year the school has five pupils and one teacher involved in the Worcestershire Women and Girls county training programme. Beth Powell and Meg Willoughby have been selected, along with Catherine Vose, Rachel Fenney, Martha Farnworth and Miss Heywood who have also been invited to attend the Talented Players Programme.
On Tuesday 12th November, Martha, Meg, Rachel and Miss Heywood met two England players, Jenny Gunn and Katherine Brunt, at an event run by the County Cricket Board. Miss Heywood is hoping to be able to arrange a visit from Jenny Gunn to the school later this term.
