We have been delighted with the GCSE results achieved by 313 Year 11 students at Prince Henry’s High School.
This is now the eighth year of GCSE reform since the introduction of numeric grades (9–1, with 9 being the top grade). To help parents and carers understand the equivalencies, a numeric 4 is considered to be a standard pass (equivalent to the legacy grade C); a numeric 5 is a good or strong pass (C–B grade); a 6 is the equivalent of the legacy high B grade; while numeric 7–9 grades equate to the legacy A–A* grades.
The overall results for 2025 have once again been most pleasing.
Congratulations to our top performer, Thomas Hill, who achieved an impressive 6 Grade 9s and 4 Grade 8s.

With such a large cohort taking examinations, to provide an approximate indication of the across-the-board successes, the school is particularly pleased that 61% of students achieved five or more GCSEs at Grade 4 and above, inclusive of English and Maths. In addition, over 130 students achieved the English Baccalaureate (EBacc) which is at the heart of our curriculum reflecting strong attainment across English, Mathematics, Science / Computing, History / Geography, and a Language. Of those 130 students, 105 students achieved this measure whilst attaining Grade 5s in both English and Mathematics in the English Baccalaureate. Moreover, we were delighted that 150 students achieved a GCSE Grade 4+ in a Language.
Further highlights include:
- 55% of all grades were Grade 5+
- 72% of all grades were Grade 4+
- 74% of the cohort achieved at least a Grade 4 in English, 76% achieved the same in Maths with 78% achieving the same for 2 GCSE grades in Science
- 66% of our students achieved Grade 4s in both English and Maths
- 98% of students achieved five or more GCSEs at Grades 9–1
Whilst there is no overall progress score, the overall Attainment score matched that for the 2024 cohort, and last year this translated into very positive progress measures. We would therefore have expected this year’s progress scores to be in line with those of previous cohorts. We are now looking forward to a significant number of our students progressing on to Sixth Form to continue their studies.
