Year 12/13 Drama and Theatre Studies students were given a fantastic opportunity last Friday when they took part in a practical workshop delivered by Frantic Assembly. Frantic Assembly is one of our practitioners that we use for Component 2 so it was a real treat having a ‘hands on’ experience exploring how to use physicality in order to express emotions and tell stories; using music to build upon these too. The students were involved in a very active warm-up and were then taught how to use physicality to do a variety of Frantic lifts, rethink stories from different perspectives and work together to create their own pieces. It was a delight watching the students work so hard and they were expertly led by Michelle, who not only ignited ideas but showed them how to think outside the box and to consider the audience’s perspective and the emotions they wanted to create.
Broadway Arts Festival have very kindly funded this workshop and we are incredibly grateful to them.
