Drama and English Trips

We have had a very busy week in the drama department and the students have had a great time going to see ‘Twelve Angry Men’ at the Cheltenham Everyman Theatre as well as ‘The Woman in Black’ at Malvern on Friday evening.

‘Twelve Angry Men’ was a real treat and caused a lot of discussion and prediction in the interval! The acting was absolutely superb and every member of the ‘Jury’ was compelling, resulting in a thrilling, powerful and thought-provoking piece. The set was very clever and the students were quite intrigued by the turning of the table on the stage. The piece was claustrophobic and tense. An absolutely great evening.

‘The Woman in Black’, (which has been running for 33 years and has only recently finished in the West End,) was a very different theatrical experience, with some students scared before they had even got off the coach!  The suspense, the fantastic acting, the multi-role, set, lighting and excellent pace made this ghost story incredibly captivating.   It is famously known as ‘A Masterpiece‘ (The Guardian) and it certainly was. The students described it as, ‘terrifying’, ‘gripping’ and ‘really, really scary’. Some Year 11 pupils watched most of it from behind their hands!

Thanks to Miss Rose and Mr Pilling for attending the trips and Cresswell Coaches who always make the trips so convenient for dropping off and picking up.
