Cross Country Success

COUNTY CROSS COUNTRY SUCCESS

A number of Prince Henry’s students were selected to run for South Worcestershire in both the boys and girls events at Hereford last Saturday. These students were:-

Junior Girls:- Casarena Ferreira, Eleanor Tarring; Emily Turner, Jasmine Taite
Junior Boys:- George McNally, Nathan Humphrey, Lewis Osborne, Jake Lee, Harrison Walker
Intermediate Girls:- Melissa Humphreys, Sian Bird, Catherine Vose, Lucy Smith,  Lydia Spencer, Ayse Selcuk
Intermediate Boys:- Luc Allberry, Jonathan Peebles, Will Jones, Callum Sanderson,  Adam Ayres, Nathan Lewis, James Noble.
Seniors:- Amber Osborne, Angelica Sephton, Alice Hall.

Congratulations to all who took part.  An exceptional performance was achieved by Casarena Ferreira in 9M who has achieved double success in the last few weeks with her cross country running. Initially, she beat off all competition to win the schools district cross country competition for junior girls. She then went on to represent South Worcestershire at the schools county cross country. Casarena put in a brilliant performance and won the country cross country event too. This is a fantastic achievement and shows her talent for running.  She will now go on to compete in the national cross country event in Blackburn.  Away from school, Casarena has represented Worcester in U15 national cross country .

Dr A Evans, Headteacher at Prince Henry’s said,
“An exceptional performance was by Casarena Ferreira, who came first.  This is an absolutely stunning achievement and she will now represent the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Team in the national finals.”

Casarena is a very talented athlete. Her achievements do not stop with running. She is also an excellent triathlete. She competes for Evesham Vale and for the West Midlands regional academy.  She is taking part in the National Super Series which comprises of several sprint triathlons, the most noteworthy being the sprint in London.  We wish Casarena good luck in all her competitions.
