CAREER MARK AT PRINCE HENRY’S

We are proud to announce that Prince Henry’s has just been awarded the prestigious Career Mark.

Career Mark is a nationally recognised qualification that assesses the quality of Career Education, Information, Advice and Guidance. It is rigorous in its evaluation of the careers help that is given in school with an external inspection of the management and curriculum on offer, together with an assessment of the outcome for the students in their destinations and knowledge of career planning. The award lasts for two years before re-inspection which ensures the quality of the mark is maintained.

In notifying Jane Tozer, Prince Henry’s Head of Careers, of the award, John Ambrose, the Career Mark Lead Director wrote “I know how much work is involved in achieving Career Mark and it is a credit to you and your colleagues to have achieved the high standard demanded by the award.”

Dr Evans said “I am delighted that the school has received this recognition for the quality of its CEIAG work.  This reflects the high number of our students who go on to continue their studies at university and other Higher Education establishments, as well as those who take up apprenticeships or other employment opportunities.

He added, “Special recognition must be given to Jane Tozer and Chris Brewster, our Independent Advice and Guidance Counsellor, and Katie Knott, who supports our Work Experience programme, for the huge amount of support they give to all our students in respect of careers guidance to make them aware of the opportunities available when they leave school.  However, the work undertaken in this area is a team effort across the whole school. I would like to place on record my thanks to all the staff who support a huge range of activities including our work experience and Young Enterprise programmes, STEM activities and visits, Destinations Day and Careers Fair, annual entry in the Magistrates’ Mock Trial competition, plus the promotion of careers guidance as a key part of our Personal, Social and Health Education & Citizenship programme.”
