Students taking part in the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award recently completed an important route planning session as they prepare for their upcoming expedition in the Cotswolds.
During the session, students developed their map reading and navigation skills, learning how to carefully plan safe and efficient walking routes. Working in teams, they identified checkpoints, measured distances, estimated timings and considered the challenges they may face during the expedition.
The training forms a key part of the preparation for the assessed expedition, helping students build confidence, teamwork and independence ahead of their venture into the Cotswolds countryside.
Staff were impressed with the students’ focus and enthusiasm throughout the session, and everyone is looking forward to seeing the groups put their planning into practice during the expedition over the next couple of weeks.
