Author Visit

To celebrate World Book Day and the National Year of Reading, Prince Henry’s High School welcomed award‑winning author Chris Vick on Friday 6th March 2026. Students in Years 9 and 10 enjoyed an engaging and thought‑provoking talk in which Chris explored the power of storytelling and the importance of writing the stories we want to hear. He encouraged students to draw on their own experiences to create authentic narratives and spoke about how real‑world issues, such as AI and global warming, can spark powerful ideas for new writing. His message was clear: we are all storytellers, and every voice matters.

Following the talk, a group of budding writers from Years 9, 10 and 11 took part in an inspiring hour‑long workshop. Chris introduced a simple story structure and invited students to adapt and reshape it to suit their own ideas. They were encouraged to write freely without pressure, return to their pieces with fresh eyes, and refine their work – reinforcing his advice that good writing is really re‑writing. The session proved both motivating and practical, leaving students better equipped and more confident to continue developing their writing, both in school and beyond.
