SPORTING SUCCESS AT PRINCE HENRY’S
After being awarded the prestigious Sainsbury’s Sports Mark Gold Award for the third year running Prince Henry’s has continued to push for outstanding performances, varied curricular & extra-curricular activities and leadership opportunities. This year the Physical Education Department will continue to offer this not only to our students but also to students from within the County.
Outstanding Performances!
There have been great performances by our teams so far this year with the Hockey and Rugby teams being well represented by all years.
In rugby the U14 Squad are in the Semi Finals for the Midland Cup and also in the Semi Finals for the District Cup. The U15 Squad are in the Semi Finals for the District Plate. We wish them every success in their upcoming games.
In Hockey the girls performed well with the U14 girls team winning all but one of their matches.
Badminton has been very successful this year with Craig Witheford (Yr10), Adan Ayres and Carl Fordham (Yr 11) winning the South Worcestershire KS4 District Badminton. The following girls also won the District competition: Holly Weaver, Millie Kempton, Grace Roberts & Eleanor Tarring (Yr9). The County Final will be taking place on Monday 2nd February at the University of Worcester, good luck!
In other sports we continue to shine with fantastic performances. Henry Talbot (Yr11) is currently a Welsh International Fencer and regularly competes across Europe and Sarah Godwin (Yr12) is the current Irish Dance Champion. Craig Witheford (Yr10) has recently qualified for the English Schools’ Table Tennis Association National Championships.
Upcoming Events
Prince Henry’s High School will be welcoming schools from across the county to the annual Dance Festival on Monday 9th February to promote dance.
Year 11’s will be completing their GCSE Practical Assessment during the beginning of March and the A level course will attend a revision day at Malvern College to support their exam preparation.
Wednesday 25th March will see Prince Henry’s High School host the successful Inclusion Festival which invites students from across the county to take part in a variety of activities including Paralympic activities such as Wheelchair Basketball, Kurling and sitting volleyball. This will also include our Young Leaders who plan, organise and run the event.
Prince Henry’s is continuing to offer a Gold standard in sport and leadership.
