Ofsted Survey Inspection: Most Able Students
On 20th November, we received a visit once again from an Ofsted HMI, this time as part of a survey commissioned by Ofsted into the provision for and achievement of the most able students. This followed on from a similar survey conducted in other schools in 2013, and the focus for the visit was on Prince Henry’s provision for
- Transfer, transition and induction
- Teaching learning and assessment
- Curriculum, including homework
- Support and guidance
Since this was a survey visit, we will not receive a formal judgement or report from Ofsted, however we were delighted with the feedback we received from the HMI Mrs Coates. Once again, an Ofsted inspector endorsed the special ethos and the work that is undertaken day-in, day-out by the students and staff at Prince Henry’s.
Keith Watson, our Vice Chairman of Governors, who also chairs our Academic, Pastoral and Teaching Committee, met with the inspector and was present for the feedback session at the end of her visit. I am grateful to him for taking the time to write a letter which has been endorsed by Steve Butcher, Chairman of Governors, to all parents, summarising the main points of feedback from Mrs Coates.
