On Tuesday the 14th of January PHHS Interact enjoyed a visit from Diane Bennett of Caring Hands in The Vale (our nominated local charity) who delivered a presentation to the students about the charitable work they carry out.
Caring Hands in the Vale is the care outreach from The Vale of Evesham Christian Centre, which continually seeks to help relieve poverty and need in the Vale of Evesham through practical support. Those referred to Caring Hands can receive food parcels, toiletry packs, bedding, clothing and blankets free of charge depending on their circumstances.
They also provide resources for individuals who are street homeless or sofa surfing, such as sleeping bags and backpacks. Caring Hands also offers a free hot meal twice a week at the Caring Hands Diner.
They have no criteria for those they support and referrals include people on low incomes, in severe debt and have benefit issues, single parent families, ex-offenders, families of offenders, street homeless/homeless, people with substance misuse issues and mental health problems, and also in crisis situations such as illness, injury, relationship breakdown and bereavement.
The presentation really enthused the students about future fundraising projects and we now look forward to supporting Caring Hands throughout 2014.
