Safeguarding Update

I am delighted to have recently joined the Governing Body of Prince Henry’s and to have been given the role of Link Governor for Safeguarding.

This week, I have met with Mr Freeman, the Designated Safeguarding Lead, who has familiarised me with the latest relevant policies and procedures, and the safeguarding training that is given to all staff and governors.

I have also met with Mrs Bradley, the Head’s PA and HR Manager, who has responsibility for maintaining the school’s Single Central Record of staff, volunteers, governors and contractors, and ensuring that the correct safeguarding checks are undertaken as part of the staff recruitment process.  Having been introduced to these documents, I will be undertaking termly checks of the SCR as part of my regular briefing meeting with Mr Freeman.

Mrs Linda Biggs
Safeguarding Governor

At the start of this academic year the school staff were well briefed on the 2019/20 Safeguarding updates as outlined in the September 2019 Keeping Children Safe in Education document.  The school continues to work closely with external agencies, such as the Police and Social Care when concerns arise about students.  This includes a close monitoring of Operation Encompass referrals.

I would like to thank Mrs Rimell for her service to the school as Safeguarding Governor over the past 4 years and wish her well with her future professional pursuits.

I would like to welcome Mrs Biggs to the role of Safeguarding Governor to the school following her recent appointment.  Mrs Biggs will provide scrutiny of the Safeguarding Team moving forward and is well placed to do so following many years in the field of education.

Mr Freeman
Deputy Headteacher and Designated Safeguarding Lead
