SPORTS DAY 2019
There was an electric atmosphere at this years’ sport day. The tone was set at lunchtime when nearly 40 competitors took on the 1500m. The crowd cheered enthusiastically as the field contained both seasoned middle distance runners and those who were there to do their best and gain valuable house points. The five houses were well represented and their team managers organised and encouraged their participants to be higher, faster and stronger than the rest. There were some excellent performances on the track. Millie Clemson in Year 10 was 0.2 seconds off the school record for the 100m. Jackson Fletcher-Haynes won the sprint events and Dan Jones the middle distance races. There was also great determination in the field events. Jamie Woodcock and Josh Pomeroy won both of their field events
Ice-lollies were sold to keep the crowd cool and they were in fine voice for the relay events, which took place to close the afternoon.
Individual winners were Millie Clemson, Jackson Fletcher-Haynes, Dan Jones, Reece Morgan, Sandra Sydor, Joe Hunt, Jamie Woodcock and Josh Pomeroy.
The ethos and togetherness of each house was exceptional. There was genuine excitement when the final positions were announced. This year the overall winners of sports day were Deacle.
However, the winners of the School House cup were Lichfield. Many congratulations to them and to all who contributed to an amazing afternoon.
