GOVERNOR VISIT: MATHS
Last week I visited Miss Marcham, Head of Maths in my role as Maths Link Governor. We discussed the changes to the Maths A Level curriculum which have been introduced this year. Whilst the curriculum hasn’t changed dramatically, the way in which the questions are now being phrased can cause some students to struggle to understand what is being asked of them. Furthermore, the grade boundaries have been set comparatively low which is an indication of the level of difficulty of the new exams.
Whilst students nationwide are no doubt finding themselves in the same predicament, we are extremely fortunate to have a Maths Department that is staffed with experienced and dedicated teachers who are working hard to reassure and support the students in the final run up to the exams.
Thank you to Miss Marcham and her team for the warm welcome that I received during my visit and I would like to wish all students sitting their GCSE’s and A Levels in the next few weeks, every success.
