PHHS INTERACT SUPPORT WORLD POLIO DAY
PHHS Interact supported World Polio Day on Wednesday 24th October in the Grove Concourse at break and lunch.
Polio is a highly infectious disease that most commonly affects children under the age of 5. It can attack the nervous system, and in some instances, lead to paralysis. There is no cure but there is a safe and effective vaccine which has already been used to immunize over 2.5 billion children worldwide.
The disease is now endemic in only 3 countries. Since 1988 there has been 99.9% reduction in cases worldwide. There is now a real chance to eradicate polio forever. For more information about Polio, please see: https://www.endpolio.org/
