In order to meet the diverse educational needs of all students here at Prince Henry’s, some of our students access an Alternative Curriculum at The Lodge directly across the road from our main school site. We offer a wide range of academic and vocational subjects in small groups in The Lodge where students are supported on a personalised learning programme to ensure they meet their GCSE target grades and make at least expected progress. All our students are closely monitored by Jill Stones, our Alternative Curriculum Co-ordinator who also delivers the ASDAN Award Scheme.
When students embark on this alternative pathway we are committed to building the confidence, enthusiasm and skills they will need to continue in education, employment or training when they leave Prince Henry’s. In line with our high expectations, the students experience a broad, bespoke curriculum that suits their individual needs, increases their cultural awareness and enhances their life chances.
We are delighted that our work in The Lodge was recognised by Ofsted in a two day survey visit during June 2014, which focused upon the school’s Alternative Provision. Please follow the link in the blue box to read the Inspector’s summary of his findings.
