Rowing Upstream in 2018

Emily Jones, Katie Ham and Imogen Brooks in Year 10 have all enjoyed absolutely phenomenal success at top national rowing events throughout the course of 2017 at AB Severn Rowing Club in Tewkesbury. At the start of this new year everyone at Prince Henry’s would like to wish them well for 2018 which could even see them trialling for the GB Junior Rowing Team if their remarkable success continues.

March – West Midlands Junior Championships : 1st in double (Katie & Emily), 1st in quad (Emily, Katie, Imogen)

April – 2017 Junior Inter-Regional Regatta : 1st in quad at Holme Pierrepont Country Park, Nottingham, used during the Olympics 2012

May – Junior Sculling Regatta held at Eton Dorney – 2nd in double (Katie & Emily)

May – National Schools held at Eton Dorney – 3rd in quad, beaten by Reading & Henley

July – British Rowing Junior Championships held at Holme Pierrepont, Nottingham – 2nd in quad, Marlow Rowing club came first but the girls beat Reading and Henley Rowing Clubs!

October – Reading Small Boats Head – 1st in double (Emily & Katie) & 1st in quad (Emily, Katie & Imogen)

Later that month the girls rowed as a quad on the same stretch of river as the Oxford / Cambridge Boat Race in the Fours Head. Their coach entered the girls and just one other top crew from AB Severn. They did amazingly well and even beat crews from Cambridge University at least 4 years their seniors!

Well done, Emily, Katie and Imogen. You’re definitely the crew with more than a clue! Everyone at Prince Henry’s is very proud of you and that includes Alex Gregory!
