The school recently underwent a planned whole school safeguarding audit undertaken by Mrs Sally Mills (former Education Lead on the WSCB). As Safeguarding Governor, I was interviewed by Mrs Mills who questioned me on the school’s safeguarding arrangements and how the Governing Body ensure the effectiveness of those arrangements. The School has been advised that Mrs Mills confirmed that the school had met all its’ statutory duties.
Later the same week, I met with Mr Freeman for our termly safeguarding update. I also carried out an audit of the school’s Single Central Register which is the record of all pre-recruitment checks undertaken prior to staff appointments. Having randomly chosen 6 files to review, I am pleased to report that it all appeared in excellent order.
Mr Freeman shared with me the Annual Report to the Governing Body 2016/17 which outlines all the activities undertaken by the school during the last 12 months. Amongst the day-to-day safeguarding issues, a substantial amount of training undertaken by the staff during this time.
A recent review of external users of the Evesham Arts Centre has resulted in a tightening of procedures to ensure that outside bodies using the centre comply with the latest government regulations.
